Factors Affecting Learning of English at Secondary Level in District Peshawar.

Abstract

The study was descriptive in nature about Factors Affecting Learning of English Learning at Secondary Level in District Peshawar. The following were the objectives of the study:1-To find out the factors affecting the learning of English at secondary level of district Peshawar. 2-To provide a base for improvement of teaching English as a second language at the secondary school level.3- To provide implemental recommendations for the removal of those factors. The following were the research questions of the study: What are the factors affecting English language learning at secondary level in district Peshawar? What according to English teachers are the main factors affecting the learning of English at secondary level? What according to students are the main factors affecting the learning of English at secondary level? The population of the study included English teachers of secondary schools of district Peshawar. The sample of the study was selected randomly. It was included 20 English teachers in district Peshawar. The tools were used as questionnaires. The main findings were included: The main factors identified by the study were including the following: Parents social status, Parents economical status, Family support, Home climate, Availability of practices tools like TV, Radio etc. Qualification of teachers, teaching methodologies, Size of class, use of Audio-visual aids, Incentives for teachers, Medium of instruction, Teacher competences, School location and standard. The parents should co-operate their children about the learning difficulties and guide them properly.
